Salsa Vaya

Some people have asked for more pictures of the Vaya, I know the pictures are not the best quality, they were taken from my phone and I don't have the best light in the garage.

I have been riding this bike since last fall. Most of my rides have been commuting on the road and on the single track of the MN river bottoms. On the river bottoms this bike is a lot of fun. The lower BB makes for a really stable ride while the tall headtube makes riding off-road in the drops very comfortable. The only negative of this set up is the lack of clearance when go over log piles with the 52t chainring.

Complete bike: Road triple cranks, 34t cassette, Bar end shifters, BB7 brakes

Rear brake has direct mount disc brake post and is designed for a full housing from the lever.

Rack and fender mounts in the rear. Rear triangle can fit up to a 1.9" tire.

Fork drop outs are reversed to help remove the front wheel when using fenders.
Fork also has direct mount disc brake posts.

A tall headtube allows for a more upright ride and comfortable ride in the drops.

Saw your blog on the Salsa Vaya, found it via a google search. You say you are running 1.9" wide tires with the Vaya? The Salsa website says clearance is 1.75" and speaking to Salsa and my local Salsa dealership has been inconclusive whether that 1.75 includes clearance for fenders or not. I have some studded Nokian Mound and Ground tires that I would like to use on a Vaya for winter commuting, but they are 1.9". Have you tried to run fenders on your vaya? Thanks!
